How come they don’t do this anymore?

Does anyone know the year that uneven bars were changed to what they are now? In the past they were closer together and not as tall, but I haven’t been able to find any real answers on when the apparatus was officially changed to what it is now. All I can find is that the bars started moving farther apart as the sport evolved but unlike the change from the old vaulting horse to the current vaulting table, there’s no answer that I can find on when the old bars changed, leading to gymnasts not being able to do skills like wrapping around the low bar and belly beats. Was the old style of bars used in the 90s or did it change in the 80s? It’s really hard to find a straight answer as to when it came about for the modern uneven bars to be performed as they are today. Like was there ever a year when the bars stopped moving further apart and stayed at the point where they are today?

And why do they all keep standing on the low bar to transition up to the high bar. A lot of black girls in gymnastics now I Don’t remember seeing in years past

Reyna Guggino was 10 times better than Sierra Brooks! She dances better than, more rhythm, perfect jumps and tumbling! Sierra brook had 1 last tumbling pass that was perfect other than that she was sloppy with no rhythm and terrible jumbled routine

Yelena was good but had to many rough edges and she didn’t get penalized accordingly. A year latter at Seoul she performed the same and ended up with a gold medal. It want her fault but her country woman should be shameful.

I guess I never paid attention back then and was too busy admiring the fabulous Romanian gymnastics of that era... But now as a mom I see just how ultra-thin the Romanians were here - They literally look food-deprived. It's accentuated by the dark circles under their eyes. Don't know how they summoned the energy for all their training and performing!

China with the age falsification that cost innocent athletes their medals, a USA team robbed of their rightful place on the podium, athletes caught with banned substances in them, athletes robbed of a fair opportunity in the AA competition because of vault… and yet so many triumphs as well. Liu Xuan was my favorite- last competition, last performance… and a GOLD medal.
